Summer Program
When the final bell rings on the last day of the HCDS semester it doesn't mean the fun stops! Summer Program classes start in early July and end in the beginning of August. Students are treated to more active and outdoor activities. It also marks the opening of our on pool facilities on our Hawthorne campus.
Our state of the art inground pool facilities located right on our Hawthorne campus is a great way for students all ages to stay active and excited during the hot summer months.
Gardening
The seeds of our garden are planted well before the summer program starts. But the fruits of our labor aren't savored until the summer. Besides the skills and hard work it takes to maintain all our vegetables. Students who tend to the garden also learn how to sell and market their harvest.
Outdoor Activities
HCDS offers a variety of engaging outdoor activities that cater to students of all ages. From playground games and gardening projects to sports and team-building exercises, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. These activities not only promote physical fitness but also foster a deeper connection with nature and enhance social skills.
Field Trips
Field Trips are a great way to let students experience new things and learn about the world outside of school. Students love to be able to explore and navigate through new environments.
BBQ Parties
Adults from our IRA houses gather on the weekends and get to enjoy each others company. As well as take a dip in our Lafayette inground pool.
